Current holders St Dogmaels took a big step towards regaining the First Division title when they beat one of their closest rivals Aberaeron, on Saturday.
In a closely contested affair it took a penalty kick to break the deadlock when Johnny James slotted home after Ioan Owen had been upended in the box. Thereafter both teams had their moments before the Saints clinched maximum points with a late strike by Chris Thomas from close range. Maesglas' title aspirations were jolted as they could only muster a draw against Lampeter. In a thoroughly entertaining encounter Sam Gudgeon gave the home side a seventh minute lead but it was not until the second half that Dominic Williams brought the visitors back on level terms. New Quay remain in second place but were pushed all the way by a Llandysul side whose performance belied their lowly status. Jamie Thompson and Craig Richardson netted for the homesters with Simon Davies deservedly pulling back a well worked goal at the other end. In a basement tussle at Parc Troedyrhiw Ffostraol had the upper hand over Aberporth. Gethin Thomas led the way with a hat-trick with Dafydd Evans grabbing the fourth while Aled Davies with a penalty and Darren Davies replied for the visitors. In the other First Division fixture played Crannog registered a narrow win over Llanybydder thanks to two goals from Leigh Davies. Cardigan booked their place in the semi finals of the League Cup with a comprehensive win over Dewi Stars. A Gary Lawrence hat-trick and a goal each for Liam Jenkins, Ben Davies and Simon Jones guided the home side to victory with Emyr Pugh grabbing two consolation goals for the Stars. |
